Winter Weekends

Supposedly we have the English Industrial Revolution and Henry Ford to thank for extending the weekend from one day to two.  Regardless of who's plan it was, I really do appreciate the time I get to spend with family and friends, as it can be so difficult coordinating catch ups due to everyone living such busy lives.   This weekend has been filled with visiting family, get togethers with friends, eating, cooking (well trying to cook) and film viewing.

I have also VERY recently taken up ocassional coffee drinking; short blacks with a glass of water on the side.  This has resulted in a bit more reading and people watching at our local coffee shop.  There is something so gratifying about sitting, sipping on a nice cup of tea or coffee and enjoying the moment.  Whilst coffee is a nice weekend treat, green tea is still my favourite.  What's your favourite beverage?

Our local coffee shop Dello Mano make lovely coffees and sweet treats which Mr B loves.

This is last month's Tatler and it has proved to be a fascinating read.  I always buy Tatler a month late, as it halves the price!

Breakfast at the New Farm Deli is always delicious.

Butter is my absolute favourite nail polish.  It is light and so far has not chipped. I don't wear it very often but love it when I do.

My local health food shop sells their entire range of colours, however I will stick to this shade for a while.

This colour is called Come To Bed Red

After doing a lot of research into ballet flats I finally purchased a pair of Bloch ballet flats.  The dream was to save up for some Lanvins, however since I am meant to be mindful of saving for bricks and mortar, I opted for Bloch.  I am so glad I bought them, as they are extremely comfortable and reasonably priced.

I ordered them from Endless.com (Amazon.com's shoes and accessories website) and I would purchase from them again as they had a large range and free delivery.

Strangely this plain black pair have been discontinued here in Australia.  I am always perplexed when a simple classic design is taken off the production line.  Sad times.

My happy colourful Desigual knit has been attracting smiles and comments from everyone.  I even got smiles and enquires while at my local petrol station.  The company's ethos of spreading happiness clearly works.

This is a new pizza base I tried recently; made from almond meal and coconut flour.  Mr B loved it, although I found it a little sweet.  I am going to try it out again tonight, however will play around with some of the ingredients.  Coconut flour is my new favourite ingredient.

Do you like Miles?  I have been listening to quite a bit of jazz this week.  My favourite Mr Davis tunes are So What and Whispering.  Click here to listen to his fabulous music.

Hope you are having a lovely weekend, full of happy moments with family and friends.

  2. I love MIles Davis, his music just makes everything better. As for coffee, oh I have bit of a problem when it comes to the lure of sweet coffee drinks, I would live on mochas and caramel lattes given the chance. Oh and I'm sure the Blochs will be perfect, my Lanvins were such a waste of money they rip my feet to shreds, I have to pad them at the heel before wear because of the seams there, so you dodged a bullet!

    1. Miles is so soothing and just helps me breath and let go of worries. Glad to hear you are a fan too. I am very very sad to hear about your Lanvin situation. Have fun watching the game today x

  3. Definitely coffee for me: black, white, latte, anyway at all. Also coffee cake, slices, cookies or desserts. Hopeless addict! That breakfast at the NF deli is perfection. This is all making me hungry. Great list of favourites, and love the stripes, the flats, and Miles too.

    1. Yes, coffee is proving to be a bit of new find for me. Fingers crossed I sleep tonight! It is easy to get addicted to all of the lovely foods which go hand in hand with coffee, especially anything made of chocolaate x

  4. Great list Fifi - I love your colourful jumper too!

I'm a tea drinker, black and no sugar (and I like black tea over green). Orange Pekoe is probably my favourite.

Did you used to entertain a lot mid week in London? I remember that everyone thought it very normal to go out for dinner, or have friends over for Supper mid week. Maybe it was because the working day usually started later for everyone? Back home it's almost treated as an imposition to ask people out mid week, and we never do it anymore.

    1. Heidi, like you, I used to love social catch-ups during the week. I remember moving from a small country town, where I was teaching to London and being pleasantly surprised that every night was like a Friday or Saturday. My favourite was drinks and curry mid-week with my friends. Definitely a thing of the past for me too x

  7. Ooh New Farm Deli for breakfast, they used to make the best pancakes with banana and maple syrup on top! Love your jumper, do they have an online shop?

As for the bevvies, as I cant tolerate caffeine I am strictly into Tetley Herbal Tea in Cinnamon & Orange. So nice on a cold winter morning in Brissy.

    1. Funny you mention the pancakes, I noticed a few people ordering them today. I ordered the Desigual knit via John Lewis, in the UK, however think a few department stores in Europe and the USA sell the brand.

  8. Fifi, there are so many things I want to comment on in this post.

Firstly, Miles Davis - I am a huge fan and have been for years. Have read quite a few books on him and his seminal "Kind of Blue" record is a must in everyone's collection. I strongly recommend it.

Secodnly, your jumer is GORGEOUS! When my sister saw it, she ordered it immediately. I am now very jealous of both of you!!!

And then,... that nail varnish. I only ever wear red nail varnish and i just LOVE the name of the one you got.
I'd say this was a perfect post!!!

I hope you are well. I am good, but cannot wait for the holidays. Two more weeks to go!!

  9. So great to hear you love Miles too. Do you also like Dave Brubeck?
I am always amazed that people even read this little blog of mine, let alone hear that it triggers them to buy something I post about - I love it and hope your sister loves the knit as much as I do. If you do try the nail polish let me know what you think; I know they sell it at Whole Foods. Hope the next 2 weeks go well and say a big hi to everyone. Any holiday plans? xxxx

  10. My favorite tea is green tea Fifi but I do wish I could sip a coffee occasionally, alas it does not agree with me. Sad face.
